Dr. Takeda LeGrand holds the position of Senior Director of Sales and Development at ARC, where she played a pivotal role in creating the Curriculum Development Guide for the Little Flower Educational Series. She is a professional educator with over twenty years of experience in leadership at the classroom, building, district, state, and national levels. Takeda holds a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner-Webb University, an Executive Juris Doctorate in School Law from Concord Law School at Purdue University Global, a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Health Education degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.Dr. LeGrand has numerous licenses and certifications (Master-Level Teacher, Administrator-Executive Leadership, Doctorate-Curriculum Instructional Specialist, Administrator-Career and Technical Education/Workforce Development, Certified Health Education Specialist, Certified Family and Consumer Sciences Professional and Project Management). As a life-long learner, she participated in the following leadership development programs: AASA National Superintendent Certification Program, Capstone: Innovative Approaches to Recruitment, Retention and Retooling of Human Capital; Education Policy Fellowship Program, North Carolina Public Schools Forum, Legislative Project: Racial Equity; North Carolina Aspiring Superintendents Program, North Carolina Superintendents’ Association, Project: District-wide Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan; National Superintendents Academy, Atlantic Research Partners, Capstone: A Continuous Improvement Model for ACT Performance; Leadership Union County; Leadership Montgomery County; and Leadership Scotland County.Currently, she serves as an Executive Director for Exceptional Children’s Services and the Chief Executive Officer for T&T Consultants, LLC., a leadership and organizational development company she co-founded with her daughter- Trinity. Previously Dr. LeGrand served as a Superintendent of Schools where she led efforts that resulted in the district exiting low-performing status, a historical high school graduation rate, 100% of schools earning the Purple Star designation for Military Families, over $6 million dollars in external funds, and establishment of a dual-language Spanish immersion program. She contributes to the field of education via her work as an Adjunct Professor of Education, Contributing Editor for the Journal of the Alliance of Black School Educators, Legislative Liaison for the NC Alliance of Black School Educators, and Reviewer for the AASA School Administrator magazine.Dr. LeGrand believes in the power of service and collaboration. Accordingly, she has partnered with numerous agencies via the following service assignments: University of North Carolina at Pembroke, School of Education Advisory Board-Chair; Chamber of Commerce-Board of Directors; Downtown Advisory Committee-Member; Rotary President, District Scholarship Chair, Four-way Test Essay Coordinator and RYLA Board of Directors ; American Association of School Administrators-Superintendent Division; America Career and Technical Education Association; National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Assistant Treasurer and Director of Youth; AdvancED/Cognia, Accreditation Team Member; Civil Rights Lead Team Reviewer; County Health Services; and Juvenile Justice.She is most proud of the family she created with her best friend and life partner-Tom. Tom works in law enforcement and serves as a Town Commissioner for their community. Takeda and Tom are the proud parents of Trinity and Taylor. Trinity is a certified fire fighter and emergency medical technician. Recently, Trinity earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology at the age of 20 and is pursuing an accelerated nursing degree towards her passion for emergency medical services. Taylor is a middle school student who likes technology, softball, and discourse. In Takeda’s spare time, she likes to visit the ocean, tour historical sites, ride the back of Tom’s Can-Am Spyder, and attend comedy shows.
